Sunday: On a last nice day in Custer State Park we took it easy and went for a afternoon hike in the Mountains. Next Day the bikes were covered with ice, thank God for heated Cabins.
We rode the beautiful Iron Road towards Mount Rushmore – lots of twisties and tunnels.
When we arrived at Mount Rushmore I felt I was in a different world. Lots of tourists from all over the world – not a place for me. It is amazing how many selfie-sticks you see at those tourists attractions – a sure sign of our times, people are self obsessed.
I couldn’t wait to get out of there. So we dressed in full gear and headed towards Sturgis to find a guy that could fix Feli’s bike seat where a seam had ripped. After an hour it was set and done, bike seat is fixed. We made it to Gillette, Wyoming late afternoon and settled in a motel. It is raining again and will be raining all day, so no hurry to get going. We checked the weather for Yellowstone and it is all rainy for the whole week while the forecast for Montana is nice, so that is where we are heading today. It is too bad about Yellowstone but we can always visit another time.
Cheers, Heinz
Well, looks like you’ve passed Continental Divide so now everything flows to Pacific. I hope you go through Kelowna, BC and if you do, you must stop in Woodfire Bakery (holzofenbackerei). Awesome, delicious food guaranteed to put on any weight you may have lost.
Hi Kenan, thanks I am craving good bread. We were stuck in Missoula for two nights. Just got my bike back from the only BMW dealership in Montana. My bike’s steering bearings went bad. It was a challenge in the curves- downright scary, so it had to be fixed.
Cheers, Heinz
Too bad about bike. Nothing worse than a breakdown on the road. Great trout fishing in Misoula. Safe travels heading North
