Has been a little while. Not enough opportunity to have internet access. Sunday May 10th we made it to Monticello MI. The weather was lousy and we stayed again at a Motel. It rained all night. The next day we made it to South Dakota to a state park: Oakwood Lakes.
We rode all day at about 5 degree Celsius and we were freezing. So at the state park we rented a heated cabin for two nights. And that felt good. Next day was nothing but sunshine. Lots of birds at Lake Tetonkaha – and to our surprise lots of white pelicans, never knew there were white pelicans in South Dakota. We went for a nice hike and enjoyed the day off from riding.
On Wednesday we left Oakwood Lakes to head to West Bend at Missouri river near Pierre SD. I was so fricking windy that all day we were riding at a 60 degree angle. The centre of the tires did not get any action that day. We were leaning into the strong cross wind all day and were exhausted. It is all prairie land here, not too many trees. Huge ranches and an endless sky.
Again we rented a cabin at West Bend and it rained overnight again. So today we will head to Custer State Park in the Black Hills to stay there a couple of days.
Cheers, Heinz
I see you two are having fun in S.D. Are you going to Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse?
Yes we heading there tomorrow.
